Jehoida Daniels, a collier, was the youngest son of Mrs. Catherine Hughes of Rhiw Syr Dafydd and the late John Daniels, and likely the husband of Margaret. He initially joined the Army Service Corps but later transferred to the 8th Battalion King's (Liverpool Regiment). He arrived in France in April 1915.

By September 1918, the battalion was part of the 57th Division stationed southeast of Arras, fighting in Haig's 100 Days Offensive. On 11 September, the division captured part of the village of Moeuvres, west of Cambrai.
Private J Daniels (85937) was killed in action during this engagement on 11 September 1918, aged 30. He is permanently commemorated and buried in the Moeuvres Communal Cemetery Extension in France.
