Albert Edward Dyer, stone cutter, of Oakdale, widower of Mary Jane, served initially in the King's Own (Yorkshire Light Infantry), arriving in France in May 1915. Later he transferred to the Labour Corps.
Private A E Dyer (387635) succumbed to his wounds on 6 April 1919, aged 47, at Manor Hill Auxiliary Hospital in Birkenhead. He was brought home to Wales and is buried in the Jerusalem Chapelyard, Woodfieldside, with a CWGC headstone bearing the inscription, "In loving memory of our dear Father."

Albert died of wounds in Manor Hill Auxiliary Hospital, Birkenhead (a Red Cross hospital for those less seriously wounded or convalescing). His daughter, Mrs Annie Tedstone of Blackwood received pay of £35 3s and 10d and a gratuity of £24 and 10s.
