William Arthur Lloyd, born 19 November 1893, farmer's son of Edwin and Maria Lloyd of Tir Sais Farm, enlisted in April 1915.
In the autumn he was posted to the divisional signal company of the Royal Marines Divisional Engineers, attached to 2nd Royal Naval Brigade HQ, Royal Naval Division.
In late 1915 the division was in Gallipoli, stationed at the Helles Front at the southern tip of the peninsula. Sapper W A Lloyd (Deal/1361/S) was shot in the head and killed in action 30 November 1915, aged 22. He lies in Pink Farm Cemetery, Helles.
