John T. Williams was an elementary school teacher from Oakdale who answered the call to serve, enlisting as a Private with the 11th Battalion South Wales Borderers.
He deployed to the Western Front in December 1915. During the brutal reality of static combat operations in the Givenchy trenches, he sustained severe injuries.
Private J T Williams (21985) succumbed to his wounds on 25 May 1916, at the age of 29. He was laid to rest and is permanently commemorated in the Merville Communal Cemetery in France.
